The dimension of PCB depends on product design. The design need to consider the best utilization ratio of material, because the processing price of PCB is calculated according to the utilization rate of material.

Fabricate of PCB, first, the substrate need to cut into a processing board, the dimension is 12″~21″ x 16″~24″. The utilization ratio of plate, which refers to the total utilization ratio of raw material. It is equal to the product of utilization ratio of raw material and utilization ratio of row plate. It depends on the dimension of PCB, the size of the manufacturer’s blanks and the number of times of laminations. It is meaningful to optimize the design of the process edge only when the process edge affects the plate utilization ratio (the quantity of plates).

Pcb thickness refers to its nominal thickness (thickness of insulating layer plus conductor copper. The design of plate thickness mainly considers the problem of strength and deformation.

(1). Standard thickness: 0.70mm, 0.80mm, 0.95mm, 1.00mm, 1.27mm, 1.50mm, 1.60mm, 2.00mm, 2.40mm, 3.00mm, 3.20mm, 3.50mm, 4.00mm, 6.40mm. That mainly used in the design of double panels.

(2). The selection of pcb thickness should be based on the shape size, the number of layers, the quality of the components installed, the installation mode and the impedance. The empirical formula: PCB has a aspect ratio of less than 2 and a width to thickness ratio ≦150, where the width dimension refers to the smaller size in the depth or height of the pcb.

(3). Thickness of plug-in box installed veneer shall take into consideration the deformation problem.

(4). Suggested selection 1.6mm or 2.00mm of the thickness of non-box mounted pcb when PCB dimention less than 300mm x 250mm. For large PCBs, suggested selection 2.00mm, 3.00mm, 3.20mm, 3.50mm or thicker, but preferably no more than 4.00mm.
