What is the UL?
People who are engaged in the CCL industry know that CCL safety certification is very important and is a prerequisite for the CCL to enter the market. Many countries in the world have product safety certification institutions, but the oldest and most authoritative security certification institution is UL.
UL organization introduced:
UL is the abbreviation for Underwrite Laboratories Inc,founded in 1894. Now UL is the most authoritative in the United States, but also the world’s larger civil institutions engaged in security experiments and identification, which is an independent, nonprofit professional organization conducting experiments for public safety. It adopts scientific testing methods to study all kinds of materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings and the like whether are harmful to or the extent to life and property. Identify, prepare and issue appropriate standards to help reduce and prevent the loss of life and property information, while carrying out fact-finding business.
In short, it is mainly engaged in product safety certification and safety certification business, the ultimate goal is to make the market access to a fairly safe level goods, to contribute to the health and property safety. As an effective means of eliminating technical barriers to international trade, UL has also played an active role in promoting the development of international trade
Safety certification purposes:
It is to prevent the following kinds of hazards caused to personal injury or property damage
1.(Electric shock）A person is shoked due to lack of safety isolation
2.(Energy related hazards）Danger due to excessive output energy (> 240VA)
3.(Fires) Fire caused by overheating of parts
4.(Heat related hazards) Hot burnt due to overheating of parts
5.(Mechanical hazards) Cuts or punctures due to too sharp parts
6.(Radiation hazards) Laser light, ultraviolet light
7.(Chemical hazards) Electrolytic capacitors are violent or electrolyte leaks
Printed circuit board used UL standards:
UL 796 Printed Circuit Board Standard:is a standard for PWB testing
UL 94 Flammability Standard:is the test for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances
UL 746E printed circuit board substrate certification standards
UL 746F flexible printed circuit board certification standards
UL Mark is divided into three categories, category mark, classfied mark, recognized component mark. The main component of these marks is the logo of UL, they are registered trademarks.
Respectively used in different service products, is not universal.
